日本は、地震が多い国です。だから、建物を建てるときに、耐震性が重要で、かなり改善されています。でも、やはり、古い家屋も多いので、耐震性がない建物も多い。これは、マンションにおいても、旧耐震基準のものもある。
けれども、耐震性が古くても、マンションは、たくさんの住人がおり、一般的に住宅とともに、住人も高齢化するので、マンションの建て替えも、なかなか進みません。これは、社会問題にもなっています。だから、こういう地震があると、古い家屋がまず、壊れてしまいます。
そうやって、日本の住宅事情は、新しいものが好まれます。私の義父が亡くなりましたが、かなり頑丈に建てられた建物でしたが、度々ある、地震による影響で、家は傾いていました。外見には、わからないのですが、内部は、崩れていました。
そうして、隣の家に影響があると困るので、取り壊しを急いでしました。このように、一見、ちゃんとしていても、内部的に日本の家屋は、地震によって、影響があるものも、多いです。
今回の地震は、その地震が2024年1月1日という、非常にみんなが喜びを感じているときに、起こり、日本の国民感情は、非常に悲しさに包まれました。日本国民の代表の天皇陛下は、今年の国民に対する、毎年恒例になっている、年始のご挨拶を中止されました。そうして、首相官邸は、緊張感に包まれて、元日から、岸田首相は、作業服で、国民にメッセージを送りました。

そう考えるとき、私は、過去の震災の時、いつも、メッセージのように、テレビから、「絆（キズナ）」って発せられた言葉を思い出します。こういう時、私は、テレビを見て、心から、感謝する。
つながりがないようで、いろんな人に助けられて、今がある、って感じる。だから、「絆」。
人は、一人のようで、そうではない。誰かが、いつも陰ながら助けてくれる。今回は、その陰ながら助けてくれる人が犠牲になった。そうして、みんな助け合っている。
「絆」って言葉を教えてくれたのは、テレビでした。日本人なら、多分心の片隅に、この言葉を持っていると思う。いろんな天災が多いので、この頃は、保険会社も保険料が値上げされている。こんな日本の大地で暮らす私たちは、互いに助け合って、「絆」を感じながら、生きている。
悲しいことから始まった2024年だけれども、「絆」を確かめ合いながら、生きていることを改めて感じたお正月でした。
被災された方、事故で亡くなられた方、世界でいろんな苦しみで生きておられる方、「絆」がある。だから、前を向いて少しだけでいいから、ちょっとを積み重ねると、いいことがきっとある。
「絆」。つながることが、素晴らしいことなんです。忘れないでね。「絆」。
