インターネットは世界を狭くした。The Internet has narrowed the world.

新年のお祝いの言葉が、日本は、「あけましておめでとうございます、アケマシテオメデトウゴザイマス。」です。

これは、とても日本的なことばです。新しい年をお祝いすることばです。

「あけまして、アケマシテ」つまり、明るくなっていくことです。前の年より、良くなること。そして、真っ暗な夜が徐々に、明るくなって太陽が、登っていく様子を、とても美しい、と思う国民性がある。

その太陽と未来を重ねて、日本人は、太陽に手を合わせて祈ります。

だから、山登りをして、山小屋に泊まると、夜明け前に、準備をして、太陽に向かって明日への願いを込めて、日本人は、その太陽の美しさに感激します。その太陽は、日章旗(ニッショウキ)と言われ、国旗になっています。

とりわけ、太陽に、「美しさ」と共に「希望」を重ねて、見上げるのです。それは、国旗が上がる様に重なって見えます。けれども、日本は、第二次世界大戦で、敗戦しました。

だから、日本の国歌は、色んなところで、まだ、堂々と歌うことができません。何故なら、戦後教育においては、置き去りにされたから。私は、学校で、国歌を習ったことが無い。

教科書に載っていても。ただの一度も、バックミュージックでも、流れたことは無い。だから、世界の人々に、戦争は、人を不幸にするものだと、知って欲しい。

争いは、いずれ、どんな形でも、結果は出ます。

それは、経済活動や、学術については、競争は、人々にしあわせをもたらすものだから、これは、とても素晴らしいことだと感じる。

けれども、その経済活動が国の利害によって、戦争の引き金になることがある。これは、とても、不幸なことです。

やはり、粘り強く、交渉するしかない。これは、持久戦になる。そんな我慢をして、国民は、不幸になる。

一番に誰だってなりたい。けれども、それは、「無常」つまり、以前にも、お話しましたが、仏教において、この世のすべてのものは、永遠は、無いのです。

これからは、自国第一主義では、なかなか、難しい。以前にも、書いたけれども、もう、インターネットの広がりは、その国境は、ボーダレスで、人口の多さや国土の広がりで競い合う時代では、無い。

世界は、確実に狭い。だから、その中で、国が栄えるには、ボーダレスのグローバル視点で、そのルールを尊重していくことが、最も大切だと感じる。

何故なら、世界は、狭い。昔のようにいかないから、です。

この新型コロナで、デジタルトランスフォーメーションは、加速しています。ITによって、人々は、生活が変化します。

そして、又、世界は、小さくなります。つまり、狭くなります。そんな世界になります。

私は、ちょっと、不便なくらいが、ちょうど良いと思っていました。

けれども、この新型コロナで、もう、個人情報と銀行口座や、警察、健康、あらゆるものが、一元化される。個人の位置情報まで分かる。そんな世界が、もう始まっている。

それは、お互い、見張り合いの世界です。そんなビックデータをどう管理するかも今後の課題です。だからこそ、グローバル視点のルールは、必要です。

争う事なく、互いに尊重し合い、平和な世界になりますように。

This is a very Japanese phrase. It is a phrase to celebrate the new year.

"Akemashite" means to get brighter. To get better than the previous year. And there is a national character that thinks it is very beautiful to see the pitch black night gradually brighten and the sun rise.

Japanese people pray to the sun, as if it were the future.

So when they go mountain climbing and stay at a mountain hut, before dawn they get ready and face the sun with their wishes for tomorrow, and are moved by the beauty of the sun. That sun is called the rising sun flag, and is the national flag.

In particular, they look up to the sun, overlapping "beauty" with "hope." It looks like the national flag rising. However, Japan was defeated in World War II.

Therefore, the Japanese national anthem cannot be sung openly in many places. Because it was left behind in postwar education. I never learned the national anthem at school.

Even though it was in textbooks. It has never been played even once, not even as background music. So I want people around the world to know that war makes people unhappy.

Conflicts will eventually produce results in some form or another.

In economic and academic activities, competition brings happiness to people, so I feel that this is a wonderful thing.

However, that economic activity can sometimes trigger war due to national interests. This is very unfortunate.

There is no choice but to negotiate tenaciously. This will be a long-term war. The people will become unhappy if they endure such a thing.

Everyone wants to be number one. However, this is "impermanence," that is, as I said before, in Buddhism, nothing in this world is eternal.

From now on, it will be difficult to put our own country first. As I wrote before, the spread of the Internet has made borders borderless, and it is no longer the time to compete with the size of our population or the size of our land. How to read a globe that adults can enjoy.

The world is certainly small. Therefore, I feel that the most important thing for a country to prosper in this world is to respect the rules from a borderless global perspective.

Because the world is small. It will not be the same as it was in the past.

Digital transformation is accelerating due to this new coronavirus. People's lives will change due to IT.

And the world will become smaller again. In other words, it will become smaller. That is the world it will become.

I thought that a little inconvenience was just right.

However, with this new coronavirus, personal information, bank accounts, police, health, everything will be centralized. Even personal location information will be known. Such a world has already begun.

It is a world where we all keep an eye on each other. One of the challenges for the future is how to manage such big data. That is why rules from a global perspective are necessary.

May the world become a peaceful place, without conflict, where people respect each other.
